Terry Flynn narrowly defeated fellow-Texan Scott Young to capture victory at the 2008 Genesta J/22 Midwinter Championship. Held from March 14-16, favorable conditions allowed for eight races at Rush Creek Yacht Club in Heath, TX. Competitors from the home state placed in eight of the top 10 positions, with Chris Doyle of NY and Steven Lowery of IL filling in the other two prestigious slots. Forty-four boats competed on Lake Ray Hubbard in mostly moderate breeze. Flynn and Young each scored two bullets in a battle that went down to the final race. With one discard, Flynn (sailing with Mark Foster and Chris Flynn) edged out Young by two points. |
